ABRAHAMS' first book, ON THE LIST: Fixing America's Failing Organ Transplant System (Rodale 2009), was a bestseller. It combines nonfiction narrative with a deep policy analysis about what can be done to eliminate the organ waiting lists. ABRAHAMS is also the principal writer and coauthor of RAÚL CASTRO and the NEW CUBA: A Close-up View of Change (McFarland 2011). This book includes first-hand reporting from ABRAHAMS’ many trips to Cuba and his analysis of the changes sweeping the island since Fidel's “little brother” took the reins of power.
In 2013 the feature film HAVANA 57--"from the novels of Harlan Abrahams" --was released. It is the first major English language production shot entirely on location in Cuba in 5 decades. To celebrate its release, ABRAHAMS has published HAVANA 58--"from the series that inspired the film"--as an e-book on Amazon.com.
